OK, it’s January seventh, so I’m a little late in sending out this happy new year email, but it’s been such a turbulent start to 2021 that I feel sure you’ll excuse my tardiness. As Douglas Adams once said, I love deadlines, I love the whooshing sound they make when they go flying by…

Here in the UK it’s all been happening. Our government has finally finished its glorious Brexit project and we’ve left the European Union! Sure, there were a few miles of queuing lorries, a bit of bother getting hold of toilet roll, and Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland now want nothing to do with us, but you can almost taste the sovereignty in the air – and boy does it taste sweet. Unless of course, that taste is actually the deadly new variant of Covid19, which is so dangerous we need to stay locked in our homes (again) until at least March. Or it could just be freezing fog. I’m too cold and scared to go outside to check.

But just when I think I can be proud that my country is the best in the world at something again – even if it’s only at being eye-wateringly insane, I turn on the news to see we’ve been outdone again by America. Wow, you guys really know how to do chaos, don’t you?

But enough of politics. I promised to give up all of that, and even if I’ve been dragged back into it by the dopamine hits of Twitter, I shouldn’t force it onto you with these emails. Suffice to say I am just a little bit pleased that the US has chosen to take a short break from the madness come January 20th. If nothing else it should make it easier for me, and the rest of the world, to get some work done. And I truly hope the new President is able to start bringing people back together, so we can all remember that there’s far more that unites us than holds us apart.

And of course it’s not all bad news – some of it is very good. Especially that about the little-glass-vials of the vaccines that have been produced in record time, and actually offer a way out of a lot of the mess we’re all in. They say the night is coldest just before dawn, so if you’re feeling overwhelmed or fed up with just how awful everything is right now, then stay strong. We’re bearing the brunt now, but these storms are passing.

But I’m not only writing to offer you empty words of solace – oh no – I have more than that up my sleeve. Back when the first lockdowns hit, I decided to offer all my books for free to help out anyone who was stuck at home feeling bored or lonely. OK, it wasn’t producing a vaccine in record time, but it was something I could do. And since we’re once again thrust into lockdowns by the pandemic, it seemed right that I should do the same again. As a result, with this email you can get all my books for free on Amazon from 8th – 12th Jan, and I’d love you to take full advantage. And if you’ve already read them, then please do forward this onto anyone else who you think might benefit. Feel free to also share it on facebook or twitter, or even scream it from the mountaintops – but for those in the UK, please only if you live within five miles of a mountaintop, due to lockdown regulations. Thank you!

Below are links to all the books for free. I’ll be back soon with an update on how the new book’s coming on (did I mention how I love deadlines and their whooshing sounds…?) For now, thank you, stay well, and Happy New Year!

Gregg

Ps. The picture above is our only-slightly illegal, socially distanced New Year celebrations. We promised the kids it was midnight and were in bed by 11:30!
