Could you be an Advance Reader for The Glass Tower?
Dear Readers, I’ve had the manuscript for my next book – The Glass Tower – back from my editor, and I’ve been through it, which means it’s nearly ready to publish! But before I put anything out in the world, there’s a final step I like to go through, for which I need some help. I’m looking for keen (and kind) readers to go through the book and catch any typos, spolling mistakes (geddit?), inconsistencies, minor plot holes (the major ones are filled already, or at least I hope they are) and anything else that just looks wrong. I’ve used Advance Readers to some extent with all my books, and they’ve been incredibly helpful. It’s very reassuring to have a good number of eyes through a manuscript before it goes out. It means I can be confident that, though a few errors will doubtless sneak through, the bulk will be gone. I get a lot of peace of mind (which is nice because publishing a book is scary!)
However, I’ve always found it quite hard to coordinate things. So this time around I’m trying a new service that promises to make it easier for both those volunteering to be an Advance Reader, and also me. I don’t know if it’ll work, but I’m going to give it a go.
So to volunteer to be an Advance Reader, you need to follow the link below. It’ll ask you to set up a ‘reader account’ with Readerlinks, which is a small faff, but worth it I hope. I then have to ‘approve’ you, and then, once the manuscript is ready to go, I’ll email you with the all important instructions, including how to structure the feedback so it’s easy to act upon, and where to send it.
